Cipollari Bluegrass Family Band Will Busk Across 5 Cities in 14 Days to Hand-Deliver a Vinyl Album to Randy Travis
The album “Delivering Who We Are” is a musical letter of thanks, the whole trip will be vlogged, and the journey doubles as a fundraiser for the Randy Travis Foundation.CULLMAN, Alabama, – Cipollari, the Alabama bluegrass family band formerly known as the Cotton Pickin Kids, is announcing its biggest project yet: a 14-day busking challenge across five cities, from November 8 to November 21, to hand-deliver a vinyl album to country music legend Randy Travis at his Texas ranch. The band will vlog the entire trip, with a new video every day. It begins with a free kickoff concert on Saturday, November 7, at Terri Pines Country Club in Cullman, and raises money for the Randy Travis Foundation along the way.
Inspired by Ryan Trahan’s viral one-penny challenge, Cipollari is swapping the finish line. Instead of delivering to MrBeast, the band is delivering to Randy Travis.
How It Started: A Video Nobody Expected
It began with a surprise. Jade, a Patreon member of the Cipollari community and a friend of Randy and Mary Travis, asked the couple to record a short hello video for the family as a fun gift.
At the end of that video, Randy and Mary called Cipollari a beautiful family band and asked whether they would record “Forever and Ever, Amen” in their own style.
We learned it, recorded it, and they loved it. After that, we kept asking ourselves: how do we say thank you?”
This project is the answer.
The Album: “Delivering Who We Are, A Musical Letter to You, Randy”
At first, the idea was simple: send Randy and Mary the song they asked for, pressed on vinyl as a gift. Then the band kept thinking. A single song didn’t say enough.
So Cipollari built a full album. Delivering Who We Are, subtitled A Musical Letter to You, Randy, includes:
- Every original song Cipollari has written
- “Forever and Ever, Amen,” the song Randy and Mary asked for, as the final track“
The Challenge: How the Rules Work
- Busk $300 in every city. Cipollari plays on the street and has to earn $300 in tips.
- Hit the goal, move on. Once they reach $300, they travel to the next city.
- Miss it, stay put. If they fall short, they stay in that city until they make it.
- The Great Reset. Every night before bed, the band checks donations to the Randy Travis Foundation made through their link. If anyone has donated $1,000 or more, their busking total resets to zero. They then have to earn the full $300 again before leaving that city.
- What counts. Only tip money counts toward the $300. CD sales do not. Everything on the trip, including gas, food and lodging, has to be paid for with busking money.
Fans who want to keep Cipollari stuck in a city longer can donate to the foundation. They help Randy’s cause and shake up the trip at the same time.
